4th Foreign Regiment
4th Foreign Regiment
History
The 4th Foreign Regiment, created in 1920, is the crucible and the school of the Foreign Legion. Established in Castelnaudary for 44 years now, it serves as the CFIM, ENSOA, and specialist schools for every legionnaire—either to be trained or instructed there, or to take part in training the younger ones and thus pass on the torch. The primary characteristic of the 4th Foreign Regiment lies in the fact that it is designed to support the progressive integration of the legionnaire into the Legion, the Army, and then our country. Built on the model of a regiment, the school immediately familiarizes the future legionnaire with the structure in which he will live his soldier’s life: the company first, then the “regimental home.”
